A Florida woman who conspired with her lover to kill her boyfriend will never walk free again.
Escambia County Circuit Judge Amy Brodersen handed Alyssa Marie Blackburn, 25, a life sentence in prison for her role in the shooting death of 26-year-old Jesse Geoghagan. Balckburn was convicted by a jury of principal to second degree murder.
On October 29, 2023, Blackburn and two other co-defendants, 32-year-old Jacob Colville and 47-year-old Lawrence Bonner, went to a home on Medford Avenue to look for the victim. At the time, the defendant was Geoghagen’s girlfriend and was also in a relationship with Colesville, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
Prior to the fatal incident, the trio had been in a conflict. Upon arrival at the residence, Blackburn went inside first and confirmed was at the residence. Hence, Colville and Bonner went inside the home and searched for the victim, who had been hiding in a closet, before fatally shooting him several times with three different guns.
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested all three suspects.
During the trial, prosecutors submitted video footage of the murder that was captured on a home surveillance camera. In addition, they submitted text messages from Blackburn telling a friend Colville was going to kill Geoghagan minutes before the shooting. Also, authorities found text messages from the defendant to Colville that showed she wanted Colville to make Geoghagan leave her alone.
Colville was convicted in June for first-degree premeditated murder and sentenced to life in prison, while Bonner pleaded no contest to principal to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 5 years. At the time of his sentencing, Bonner was credited with 1,046 days and released for time served, reported WEAR News.
