A Louisville man, Robert Handley, was arrested and charged in connection to the shooting death of Quante Burris after an altercation to evict him, police say. Handley is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a felon.
During the wee hours on Dec. 31, the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department (LMPD) responded to the 1600 block of S 13th Street after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Burris at the residence with a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving measures by first responders, the victim was declared dead at the scene.
The 33-year-old Handley was arrested on Thursday.
According to WLKY, Burris and his girlfriend had been involved in a heated argument when she called some people to help evict the victim from the home. However, when the defendant arrived, a violent altercation ensued between the men before the defendant allegedly shot Burris.
