A Memphis woman who fatally shot a man during a heated argument has been arrested, authorities say.
34-year-old Jamesha Banzant, a.k.a."Neecy," was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
About 4:30 pm, on Oct. 28, 2023, officers responded to an apartment complex along the 1700 Block of Lapaloma Street. Upon arrival, they found Montreal Moore on the floor of the apartment, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Though first responders applied life-saving measures, the victim was declared dead at the scene.
According to News-Herald, Moore and another man had been helping a lady move her furniture when an argument broke out between them. Though they resolved the issue temporarily, soon, an argument ensued between the victim, Banzant, and a male neighbor. Witnesses told authorities the defendant had brandished a weapon wrapped in a yellow sheet before they heard multiple gunshots and the victim collapsing on the floor. Furthermore, the defendant told one of the witnesses, "Auntie, you didn't see nothing," reported FOX 13.
Moore was seen taking two phones before she fled the scene with the male neighbor.
The next day, authorities found the defendant’s abandoned blue 1998 Ford Mustang in Southhaven but were unable to locate Banzant until Nov. 20.
Banzant was denied bond and remains in jail while awaiting trial.
