A Texas man assaulted a woman and pulled her into a moving vehicle. Now, he will never walk free again.
A Victoria County District judge sentenced Christopher Garcia, 42, to three life terms in prison for the brutal assault of an unidentified woman. Garcia was found guilty and convicted of possession of a controlled substance, assault family violence with a previous conviction, and unlawful restraint causing serious bodily injury.
On Oct. 27, 2023, officers responded to a 911 distress call after reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the defendant had pulled the woman into a moving vehicle. Soon, officers found Garcia and the victim, who had been assaulted and threatened. The woman told officers Garcia had intended to hold her against her and possibly kill her.
Officers also found methamphetamine near the driver's seat of the vehicle.
During the trial, prosecutors submitted the defendant's violent criminal record with convictions for a 2019 aggravated assault and a 2016 hindering a felon, reported Victoria Advocate.
