Just as she had done every day, taking her dog for a walk around her beloved neighborhood was the expectation of Emma Kelsoe. However, her expectation was cut short after a hit-and-run driver killed her.

The Ohio native had spent most of her life in Florida, where she met her husband and had four children. The 80-year-old grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of 15 went out for a walk on the evening of Feb. 1, 2017. Kelsoe had just stopped to chat with a neighbor at the Park City Mobile Home Park in Davie. The neighbor lived two doors down from her home and took out the mail from her mailbox while they continued their conversation.

Next, a driver was seen speeding towards them along the intersection of Southwest 18th Street and 86th Avenue. Then, the victim pushed her neighbor out of the way while she and her dog took a hit and was run over by the suspect’s car, according to Local10.com.

Later, authorities retrieved surveillance video footage showing the car's driver making a U-turn to return to the scene and then speeding off. Since then, investigators have run out of leads, and no arrests have been made so far.

As a result, a $27,000 reward was offered for any information that would identify the killer. Nevertheless, the case remains cold.

Family members continue to ask the public for help through social media platforms, especially her Facebook Page, "Justice for Emma Kelsoe & Rondo.”

“I release balloons every year on her birthday and on the anniversary of her death in honor of her,” said Kelsoe’s youngest son, Mickey, reported Project: Cold Case.

If anyone has information regarding this case, please contact the Davie Police Department at (954) 693-8200. You can also remain anonymous and possibly still be eligible for a cash reward by calling Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477.
