A Georgia teen was killed in cold blood for talking with investigators. Now, the last defendant heads to prison for years behind bars.

“The pain and fear these defendants caused through their senseless violence has forever altered the lives of the victims, the victims’ families, and the witnesses brave enough to assist investigators.  While the perpetrators of these crimes are now in prison, tragically, the gang culture that promoted these violent acts remains a scourge in our community. At-risk teens remain vulnerable to the lure of gang culture and require our collective diligence to avoid this dangerous path,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

A U.S. District Court judge handed Gary Terrell Davis, a.k.a. “Bhody,” 36, seven years in prison for his role in the murder-execution of a 17-year-old witness of a shooting outside of a Brookhaven nightclub. Davis was the final defendant involved in the homicide.

On May 13, 2017, Bartow County Police Department responded to the Brookhaven nightclub after reports of a shooting on the premises. According to prosecutors, the leader of the 135 Pirus street gang, Maurice Antonio Kent, a.k.a. “Savage Duze,” had been involved in an argument with a rival gang member. Soon, Kent fired into a crowd outside the club, critically wounding the rival gang member and a security guard.

Kent fled the scene and tossed the murder weapon before being arrested later. Despite being in custody, the 32-year-old lead defendant found out the teen had been talking to the police and believed the victim had snitched on him. Two days later, members of the gang lured the victim to Bartow County, where he was killed with Kent’s gun.

During Kent’s trial, jurors heard testimonies relating to a drive-by committed by the lead defendant eight months prior to the nightclub shooting. Later, the FBI retrieved the gun used in the drive-by in Lake Allatoona, where Kent tossed it. On Aug. 24, Kent was found guilty of RICO conspiracy, violent crime in aid of racketeering, discharging a firearm during the commission of violent crimes, and possession of a firearm, reported by Reporters Newspapers. He was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Six other individuals were each convicted and sentenced to 10 to 25 years in federal prison.

Davis was sentenced to additional three years of supervised release.
