An Alabama man, 45-year-old Garland Lockwood was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, 31-year-old Maria Silos after running her over with a vehicle, police say.
On Sunday night, officers responded to Davis Road in the New Market Area after reports of a woman struck by a vehicle. Despite life-saving measures, Silos was rushed to Huntsville Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to investigators, the couple had been involved in an altercation while travelling in a vehicle that the victim drove. Soon, Silos pulled over on the shoulder lane as the confrontation escalated. Then, Lockwood stepped into the driver's seat before running his wife over with the vehicle.
The defendant was arrested and held without bond and incarcerated at the Madison County Jail after being charged with murder - domestic violence.
The case is still ongoing, and the motive for the killing remains unclear.
