A Wisconsin woman who is currently serving a life sentence for dismembering her lover and sexually assaulting his corpse attacked her lawyer in court during a preliminary hearing for assaulting a prison nurse.
On April 4, 27-year-old Taylor Schabusiness appeared in court to face a new charge of battery after she was reported to have assaulted the nurse at the Taycheedah Correctional Facility where the defendant is being housed, reported WGEM.
A few minutes into the court proceeding, Schabusiness suddenly charged at her lawyer, yelling scribbled and unintelligible words. Five deputy sheriffs immediately tackled and restrained Schabusiness while the judge ordered a recess. The lawyer requested to withdraw from the case.
Later, the court resumed via a video conference when an investigator described the event that led to the battery charge. On July 24, 2024, Schabusiness visited the prison’s medical unit and claimed she had a staple in her arm. While the nurse attempted to remove the staple with a pair of tweezers, the defendant lunged at the nurse with a metal table and struck her in the head.
In 2023, Schabusiness was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for the decapitating murder, rape, and mutilating of the corpse of her former lover Shad Tyrion. According to People, the couple had taken methamphetamine before engaging in sexual intercourse when Schabusiness started choking the victim and killing him. Next, she molested the corpse before decapitating Thyrion and cutting off his genitals with a bread knife. Thyrion’s mother later came home and found her son’s body parts in a bucket.
Schabusiness had pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect, but the jury disagreed. Previously, the defendant also assaulted the lawyer who handled the case before being sentenced to life. The lawyer withdrew from the case two weeks later.
