NORTH CAROLINA MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR THE MURDER OF A MOUNT HOLLY WOMAN

A Gastonia man, Michael Lee Wall, 39, was arrested and charged with the murder of 28-year-old Carly Bentley, police say. Wall was charged with first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.

On Sunday, around 3:30 pm, the Gaston County Police Department responded to a home on Mistywood Drive, off Kelly Road, in Mount Holly to perform a welfare check on the occupant. Upon arrival, officers found Bentley unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Queen City News, Wall, who was at the residence, fled the scene, but K-9 units soon tracked him down, and the defendant was arrested.

The motive for the killing and the cause of death is yet to be disclosed while the investigation is ongoing.

Wall is currently incarcerated at the Gaston County Jail and held without bond.
