An Indiana teen, Latrell Vaughn, was arrested and charged in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Takoda Gallegos, police say.
Vaughn is charged with murder, armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and felony firearm enhancement.
Around 8:45 pm on Jan. 15, the Mishawaka Police Department responded to the 200 Block of N. Indiana Avenue, where they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures by first responders, Gallegos was pronounced dead at the scene. A few hours later, authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to the murder and transported him to the Juvenile Justice Center. Two days later, 17-year-old Vaughn was arrested.
The 14-year-old, whose identity is currently sealed due to his age, is charged with murder, armed robbery, pointing a firearm, and dangerous possession of a firearm at a juvenile court, according to WNDU.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the investigation is still ongoing.
