ILLINOIS MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR DECEMBER MURDER OF JOSEPH JONES

A Danville man, Derrell L. Boston, was arrested and charged for the murder of 35-year-old Joseph Jones, authorities say.

On Dec. 21, the Danville Police Department responded to the intersection of Collett and Williams Streets, where Jones was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Later, authorities were able to gather evidence incriminating Boston as the alleged killer. As a result, on Saturday around 1 am, police officers spotted the defendant sitting in a car along the 1200 Block of N. Bowman Ave, where he was arrested, according to The News-Gazette. The 28-year-old defendant was charged with first-degree murder.

The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the investigation is still ongoing.
