A New Jersey woman, Wendy Perez, 27, who fatally stabbed the father of her children, was arrested after a heated argument, police say.
Perez was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon after the Bridgeton Police Department responded to the 300 block of Atlantic Street due to reports of a man screaming. Upon their arrival, they found 26-year-old Rafael Morales-Domingo with a stab wound on the porch of the home.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 7 pm on Dec. 1, Morales-Domingo entered the apartment belonging to Perez, who at the time was in the company of her boyfriend, reported NJ.com. Soon, an argument ensued and allegedly escalated into a violent altercation when she stabbed the victim in the upper chest area of his armpit.
Later, investigators found blood trails from the second floor of the unit, in the kitchen with a bloodied knife in the sink, and on the porch, where they found Morales-Domingo.
The motive for the killing remains unclear.
Perez is being held and awaiting trial at the Cumberland County Jail.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information regarding the case to call Bridgeton police at 856-451-0033.
