A Pennsylvania woman who killed her half-sister over an argument on Facebook will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

York County District Judge Musti Cook sentenced Alajah Elizabeth Holmes, 21, to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of her 18-year-old half-sister Amiya Paige. Holmes was found guilty by Cook of first-degree murder after the defendant had initially pleaded guilty to criminal homicide.

"Kudos to the York City Police Department, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Chuck Murphy, and Senior Deputy Prosecutor Jenna Strausbaugh for an outstanding investigation and prosecution," said York County District Attorney Dave Sunday, according to FOX 43.

On Dec. 31, 2022, officers responded to a report of shots fired at the 300 Block of West Jackson Street. Upon their arrival, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the back. Holmes was rushed to WellSpan York Hospital but later succumbed to her wound.

According to prosecutors, a heated argument ensued between Holmes and Paige on Facebook that led to both sisters’ decision to a fistfight. As a result, the defendant asked a friend who was in possession of a U-Haul for a ride to York City to fight Paige. Holmes could locate her sister after the victim sent a picture of the street sign to pinpoint her location.

Soon, Holmes arrived on the scene, pulled out a gun, and shot her sister, who had been in the company of some friends in the back before she fled the scene. On Jan 7, the defendant turned herself in to authorities.

Family members and friends described the victim as a fun-loving and outgoing individual who had lots to offer

“Amiya was 18 years old and had her whole life ahead of her, then tragedy took her life. Amiya was a high school graduate and was accepted into college to pursue her dream of becoming an ultra sound technician. She was loving, kind, smart, sweet and beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed doing nails and make-up on her spare time. She loved dancing and was always the life of the party. Her joyful free spirit will be greatly missed,” stated family members on a GoFundMe page, reported Law & Crime.
