A successful male model, Dynus Saxon, 21, was arrested and charged with the murder of 35-year-old Kadeem Grant, authorities say.
Saxon was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On Tuesday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to 384 Grand Concourse in a Mott Haven apartment building after receiving a distress 911 call from Grant. Upon arrival, the victim was found on a sofa with a knife stuck in his chest and stab wounds on his hands and feet. Despite life-saving measures of first responders, Grant was declared dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators they heard fighting in the hallway and later discovered it quickly progressed into a violent altercation that led to their neighbor’s demise. Soon, the defendant was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Saxon’s mother came to his defense, claiming her son didn’t murder anyone and had no recollection of the alleged stabbing.
“I don’t know what happened, but I can tell y’all based on what I do know that it’s not going to be as simple as you want to make it,” she said. “Dynus didn’t just decide to murder somebody, said the defendant’s mother, according to New York Post.”
Saxon was an established male model who had graced the movie premieres for "Batman" and "Deadpool & Wolverine." The defendant also modeled for Calvin Klein and Levi’s and appeared in the pages of Vogue.
ONE Management once represented the defendant until the fatal incident. The company has removed all of Saxon’s portfolio from its website.
"We once represented him. However, we do not currently represent Dynus, and he is not currently associated with ONE," stated a spokesperson, reported FOX News.
The victim’s family described Grant as a devoted father who was benevolent in all his endeavors.
