Four people have been arrested and charged with the murder of 51-year-old Cumberland County Detective Monica Mosley at her home.
“This is a significant step toward justice for Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley and her family. We are resolute in our commitment to ensuring that those responsible for this horrific act are held accountable. Our hearts remain with Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley's loved ones and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time,” said Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Nyshawn Mutcherson, 29, Jarred Brown, 31, and Richard Willis, 32, were all charged with murder, burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, and other related charges. Around 10:30 pm on Oct.15, officers responded to the 600 Block of Buckshutem Road after reports of multiple individuals kicking down the door of Mosley’s home.
Upon arrival, they found the detective in the home with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation, authorities tracked a suspect to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he was being detained and questioned for a gunshot wound. As a result, Mutcherson, Brown, and Willis were all arrested, followed by the arrest of 38-year-old Cyndia Pimentel, who was charged with hindering the investigation of Mosley's homicide.
In addition, security camera footage, phone records, and ballistics were used to make an arrest. The motive for the killing remains unclear.
"Sergeant Mosley was a constant friend and role model for all those with whom she served and led in the law enforcement community throughout Cumberland County and beyond. She served our community with honor, dignity and respect," said Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, reported 6 ABC.
The victim has been a county detective for 15 years, though she started her career at the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office in 2006 as a paralegal. Specialist. Mosley is a mother of two daughters and a grandmother.
