GEORGIA WOMAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR HEPHZIBAH MURDER OF A 37-YEAR-OLD MAN

A Georgia woman was arrested and charged for the shooting death of a man on Saturday evening, authorities say.

Hephzibah Police Department and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2400 Block of Carroll Drive after receiving a 911 call about a shooting at the residence.

Upon their arrival, officers found 37-year-old Eric Council and another adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. Immediately, first responders rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, but Council succumbed to his injuries. The female victim remains unidentified.

38-year-old Constance Jenkins was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

Authorities are still awaiting the autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office amidst several other homicides within the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). So far, there have been over 170 murders over the past two years in the CSRA due to violent crimes, according to 12 26 On Your Side.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear.
