A Georgia man will never walk free again after his involvement in two gang-related gruesome murders.
U.S. District Court Judge Marc Treadwell sentenced Lesley Chappell Green, aka “Grip,” 35, to life in federal prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of Derrick Ruff and Joshua Jackson. Green was found guilty and convicted of Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization (RICO) conspiracy.
“No sentence could ever ease the pain that Lesley Green inflicted on the families of the murder victims in this tragic case. The Gangster Disciples are a strategically violent organization whose members willingly committed these monstrous crimes,” said U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Prior to the double homicide in 2018, Walter Brown, who was a member of the Gangster Disciple with Green, was murdered. As a result, two other co-defendants, Philmon Deshawn Chambers, aka “Dolla Phil,” 35, and Andrea Paige Browner, aka “Drea,” 29, sought revenge and retaliation. Later, Browner met with another Athens resident, Rodriquez Rucker, whom the group believed was related to the individuals responsible for Brown’s murder. Then, she called Chambers, who followed Rucker to his home before shooting him to death.
Soon, Browner and Chambers fled the state, but the former was captured by authorities in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, and placed into custody. While Chambers was still on the run, he believed two of his gang members, Ruff and Jackson, were cooperating with authorities. Hence, he ordered Green, a high-ranking member of the gang and part of its enforcement unit, to lure both men to a storage unit under the false pretense of stealing some items to send to Chambers. Text messages and intercepted calls between the defendants and two other co-defendants were submitted to the jury during the trial, reported FOX 5.
On Dec. 19, 2019, upon their arrival, Green fatally shot both men and kept their bodies in the storage unit until authorities using cadaver sniffing dogs found the victims three months later.
Both Chambers and Browner were found guilty and convicted of Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization (RICO) conspiracy, violent crime in aid of racketeering - murder, carry and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; and causing the death of a person using a firearm.
They are scheduled for sentencing on March 20 and face minimum life sentences.
