An elderly Pennsylvania woman got into a heated argument with her husband before killing him. Now, she will spend the rest of her life in prison.

Recently, a Bedford County judge handed 76-year-old Nancy Focht a life term in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of her husband, David Focht, Sr, 74. Focht was found guilty and convicted by a jury of first-degree murder.

“The defendant murdered her husband then tried to lie her way out of being caught. Although nothing can bring back David Focht Sr., thanks to the hard work and diligence of the investigators and prosecutors on this case, Nancy Focht is being held fully accountable for his death,” said Attorney General Michelle Henry, according to the PA Office of Attorney General.

On Sept. 11, 2018, officers responded to a property on Mountain Penny Lane after reports of a shooting. Focht had called 911 and told the operative her husband had shot himself in the shed. According to prosecutors, the defendant changed her story multiple times during her initial interviews with investigators. Later, Focht confessed to shooting her husband in the shed after a heated argument.

However, during the trial, Focht’s defense lawyer, Justin Miller, argued his client’s motive was due to bouts of domestic violence. Hence, Focht shot her husband in self-defense.

The jury disagreed.
