A New Jersey man, Rolando Corte, 42, was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Lucrecia Jadan Sumba, 39, police say.
Corte was charged with first-degree murder after authorities found Sumba’s body in a dumpster along the 200 Block of S. 3rd Street in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. The victim had been reported missing in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Jan. 9 by family and friends. The next day, an investigation ensued with a search of her home.
“Police officers notified the family that the house was a crime scene, and they were not allowed to stay there until investigations were over. Her children, her family and close friends along with her boss and co-workers were very confused and not understanding what was happening," stated the victim’s family on GoFundMe, according to People.
Later, an autopsy report showed Sumba’s cause of death was due to sharp force injuries. Hence, the victim’s death was ruled a homicide.
Corte is awaiting trial and is currently being held at the Union County Jai. If convicted, the defendant faces a life sentence.
