Four days shy of Thanksgiving Day, the life of the Edmonds family never remained the same after 21-year-old Jabari Edmonds was shot to death.
On Nov. 21, 2020, Edmonds, a Louisiana resident, was engaged in several correspondences with his older sister Kourtnei, who lived in Texas via text. The victim’s sister had planned on going to Louisiana to see her brother when she received a distress message from her family that Edmonds had been shot.
The victim and his cousin had reportedly been in the city of Grambling when Edmonds was shot six times while seated in his vehicle. The victim’s cousin was also shot in the leg during the shooting. Despite being rushed to the hospital and provided with life-saving measures, Edmonds succumbed to his injuries around 2:30 pm the next day, according to Project: Cold Case.
Since the fatal incident, authorities still do not have a person of interest or a suspect arrested for the homicide. Family members claimed to have provided a neighbor’s camera and shell casings for the Grambling Police Department. Nevertheless, the case remains cold, leaving the family frustrated and awaiting justice.
“I want them to know that we’re asking for help were seeking help from the public. I hear stories on TV. I’m hearing CRIME STOPPERS has been involved or an arrest has been made (in other cases). I’m hearing all of this and in just asking for the same. My son deserves that,” said the victim’s mother, Bobbi Edmonds, reported KNOE.
